Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Lorne F. Massie is the sole owner and governor of Austin Comets Athletics and has served as Athletics Director since it's inception in January 2013 to January 2020. Lorne attended Olivet Nazarene University and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice (09') and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA 23'). As a former Division 1 scholarship tennis athlete (CSU 03-04'), he leads a program that has served hundreds of young people annually in the Greater Chicago Area of Illinois and managed more than 50 volunteers who have been involved with the program.
Lorne has guided the program through the launch of it's first youth sports program, Comets Basketball. Under his leadership, the basketball teams have had an increasing impact on the young people they serve by focusing on the priority of building long-lasting mentoring relationships over athletic achievement. While he has served as Athletics Director and Head Coach for many of our AAU grade school teams, Lorne has also coached basketball at the high school level for The Noble Charter Schools of Chicago including Golder College Prep, Rowe Clark Math & Science Academy and ITW David Speer Academy (H.S.).
